The second biggest city of Switzerland is known as an international competence centre for multilateral diplomacy . It is home to more than twenty international organisation - for example the International Committee of the Red Cross - and regularly holds international conferences. This makes the population of Geneva a global mixture. But it’s also a city filled with culture and art. It’s main tourist attraction is the “Jet d’eau”, a fountain that spills water up to 140m in the air. Among with a visit of the city, we will also have the great opportunity to visit the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN). We will have a guided tour of the facilities that holds the largest particle physics laboratory in the world. International collaboration on science wherever you look! This will be an unique experience - not only for the science freaks among you.
We will meet inside the Fribourg train station at 7:05 (and take the train at 7:26, so don’t be late). Getting up early will be worth it! Out excursion starts with the guided tour of the CERN. For that you need to bring your passport or identity card with you. Later, we will go to the city and enjoy our Picnic. Then we will have a guided tour of the city followed by some free time for you to explore the town by yourself. We plan to meet up with ESN EPFL from Lausanne as they are going to Geneva on the same day. This means that you will meet lots of other Erasmus students you might already got to know in Lucerne. What an awesome opportunity! We will take the train back in the evening (depending on your will).
